Development cycle

What We Do

APPROACH & METHODOLOGY

We approach each project as a true collaboration in conception. We offer our expertise and guidance whenever needed to ensure that the entire process is as smooth and error-free as possible. Our commitment to quality is with you from concept through to post-implementation support, so you can be assured both during and after the development process.

We believe the creation process begins the moment we connect with our clients. Our goal is to provide strategies and solutions that go beyond the expected. To make sure we deliver, we embrace the creation and conception process. Through this process, we ensure that we listen thoroughly to our clients’ expectations and needs.

Our approach to all our web and software production involves the six staged agile life cycle of development: Analyse, Design, Implement, Test, Deploy & Maintain.

MANAGEMENT APPROACH

We approach each client engagement using a defined set of policies, processes, and procedures. Each client is assigned a project manager who is to be heavily involved in either the technical or creative side of the build – ensuring that the project management isn’t left to someone who simply fills out timesheets and acts as nothing more than a bridge. They are involved hands-on and will have full knowledge and understanding of the project, the creation, implementation and design.

This person acts as the primary point of contact for your organisation. They will guide any other members of the team through the development process to ensure timely and high-quality completion. Our team use a comprehensive set of checklists, tasks and procedures that are tailored to each client. Daily project status meetings are held between the team, that focus on answering three questions:

  1. “What have you done since yesterday?”
  2. “What are you planning to do today?”
  3. “Do you have any problems preventing you from accomplishing your goal?”

This transparency and daily review of progress mitigates risk and ensures that close management of the project occurs at every stage. We utilise many technologies to manage projects, including GitHubSlack, Trello etc as required. These systems allow us to systematically manage complex projects.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

We guide you through the following discovery, planning, design and production process. Adhering to this process will ensure a successful outcome. Our goal in this analytical phase is to define features concretely, determine technology integration specifics, and prioritise features so that investment is made in those areas that will provide the greatest return on investment for our clients.

Benedict Francis

With repeated success guiding IT strategy, I have maximised the use of established and emerging technologies to achieve maximum operational impact with minimum resource expenditure. I have a natural talent for launching programmes related to digital software development and the creation of mobile app solutions for a range of clients, including SMEs and blue-chip global corporations.

During my career, I have been exemplary in leading start-up organisations, building and motivating full-stack teams, encompassing creative and technically proficient project managers and designers. This includes collaboratively delivering various applications, shaping functional strategies and delivering BAU support for processes.

I am independently versed in forming solutions to create a sustainable advantage, whilst adapting quickly to change and driving operational excellence in competitive markets. Solutions include interactive web services and tools, mobile and desktop applications, eCommerce/mCommerce, automated purchasing, social platforms and augmented reality services.

Damian Stafford

Senior Technologist

Damian Stafford

Damian is a senior technologist who has worked on a variety of projects including technology due diligence studies, architecture specification, and writing and implementing software. He has a background working in and managing technology strategy and teams in various sectors, and has worked with web-facing, large-scale software applications since the early nineties when he worked in electronic publishing, adopting very early many of the web-based tools that businesses take for granted across the enterprise today.

Between 2000 and 2005 Damian worked at Yell as Head of Technical Development for yell.com, yellmobile.com and yelldirect.com. At Yell, Damian was responsible for implementing and continuously improving a sustainable, resilient and scalable technology strategy and architecture that served over 80 million page impressions per month. Subsequently, he joined vielife as CTO specifically both to refresh the technology platform that provides their product portfolio, and to represent the company’s technology to clients and to potential investors. After he implemented the necessary technological changes and helped take the company through an intensive investment round that lasted for much of the year, vielife was bought by CIGNA, a large, US-based healthcare provider, at the end of 2006.

Roles since 2007 include: interim Head of Web Technology, TSL Education (Times Educational Supplement and Times Higher); Group Technology Director for agencies Five By Five and Headstream; Consultant Architect, Mobile Money Network; Consultant Architect, Rhinegold Publishing; IT Due Diligence Consultant, Intuitus; co-founder, Mobileweb Company; Enterprise Architecture Consultant, Chelsea Apps Factory; CTO, TalisLife; independent software developer and consultant. Damian holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in history from the University of Leeds.
